Saturday 11 May 2019 at St Peter's School.

Other ways in which you can assisst include
  • Sponsor a learner's literacy classes for 2019
  • Volunteer in Diepsloot on a Monday or Tuesday morning.

Read for Africa works very closely with Edu Fun, an NPO that operates in Diepsloot and focuses on teaching English Literacy to Grade 2 and 3 learners using the Phono-Graphix Reading method at Diepsloot Combined School.

We will be raising funds for our Literacy Programme as well as our Partner Projects as we all work towards common goals - raising funds to reduce / eliminate as many barriers to learning whether it be by providing food, conducting health screenings, providing new uniforms or mending old, teaching reading and/or providing a multi-purpose hub to house all our activities.

Join us in Diepsloot and become a volunteer Buddy Reader on a Monday
and/or Tuesday morning

Follow this link to see how you can get involved. We meet in Dainfern and carpool to Diepsloot together on Monday and Tuesday mornings. No teaching experience is required. You can observe on your first few visits and training mainly happens "on the job", but we do run informal workshops at least once a term.

If you are already trained in Phono-Graphix, this is an excellent way to get more exposure to the method. It's also a perfect opportunity to complete your internship/certification. Please get in touch to see how you and/or your school can get involved.
