Please support the work that we do in Diepsloot
As a supporter of Read for Africa and/or a practitioner of Phono-Graphix, please support the work that we do in Diepsloot, by other becoming a regular buddy reader at one of our Buddy Reader sites or by assisting us with other projects such as the Food Pantry, Uniform, Health Screening or Baby Club.
Some projects take place on a daily / weekly basis during term time, but our focus is turning to the winter holidays where we will be running a 3-day Holiday Buddy Reader programme from Wednesday 29 June to Friday 1 July 2022.
Ways in which you can help
- Volunteer on one or all of the days - Buddy Read with a Grade 2 or 3 learner and teach a few basic literacy skills to help learner access 3 and 4 sound words. (No experience is required as there will be daily on-site briefings, videos to view beforehand)
- Sponsor a learner to attend the Holiday Programme at R300 / learner which will cover all the activities, snacks and treats that the learner will receive daily.
- Help us reduce costs by adding one or 2 items from our "wish list" to your next shop.

I hope that the first week back at school has been good and that 2016 is a great year for you and your students.
Read For Africa has started the year running having conducted courses at the French School in the first week of January and then introduced our Whole School Approach to teaching reading to a new School in KZN last week.

One day left to go before Read For Africa turns 15 and we’re happy to announce that our MEMBER AREA has just gone live.
If you can’t join us in person on Saturday, you can visit us online and see what benefits you will receive as a member.
Membership is open to anyone and will cost R150 for the year. Renewal will always be in March to coincide with our birthday celebrations.
If you have been trained as part of one of our member schools your membership is included, so just sign up and your membership will get approved.
